Winter Village
Winter is coming
Requirements: Level 3
Description: You need to keep the Village alive through a harsh winter. There are four key metrics that track the state of the Village. If one metric is negative at the beginning of three consecutive weeks, the challange is lost. The challange is won, if at least twelve weeks have passed and all metrics are positive at the beginning of the current week. At the start of the challange, all metrics are at zero.
Each week each character can decide for one metric to work on. In order to do so, the player rolls an appropriate skill check and improves the metric by the result of the skill check divided by the number of players. As usual non integer results are rounded down.
The following table describes the metrics.
Metric | Skills | Decay | Description |
Food | Survival, Profession cook -4, Profession farmer +4 | 10 | The quantity is important, not the taste |
Warmth | Survival, Profession Lumberjack +4 | 5 | Enough burnable material needs to be brought in to keep the village warm. |
Health | Heal | 0 | Represents the amount of medical supplies and sick villagers |
Structural integrity | Profession Carpenter + 4 | 0 | Represents the damage to roofs, houses, etc. |
At the beginning of each week, roll with 1d6 to determine an event that happens:
Roll | Name | Description |
Storm | 1 | Reduce Structural integrity by 10 |
Rat infestation | 2 | If food is negative, nothing happens. If it is positive, half it and reduce health by the same amount. |
Plague | 3 | Reduce Health by 10 |
Severe Cold | 4 | Reduce Warmth by 10 |
No Event | 5 | No effects |
Roll twice | 6 | Roll twice with a 1d4. The results are added. |
Bring it on: Add "Morale" metric, which decays by 5 points each week and can be improved using Diplomacy or Perform checks. As an extra reward, you get a moral bonus of 6 on an attribute of choice for your next challenge.
Rewards:
- 1 feat
- 4 attribute buy points
- 1 skill point
